Belgian Model 1915 Adrian helmet re-used in WW2, Z.H.D

Please send a mail to the seller at : feldgrau_collector@hotmail.com This helmet is a model 1915 WW1 Adrian-type helmet, but used by the Belgian Z.H.D. organization during WW2. The helmet is painted black with a white painted rim and the white letters "Z.H.D" instead of a helmet insignia. The helmet is complete with a liner showing a piece of horizon blue cloth at the interior. The chinstrap is missing.

Although fairly rusty, this is a really neat and historical interesting item, which is very difficult to find.

When the German army occupied Belgium in 1940, they ordered the creation of a service which would assist among others during air raid. The organisation was called "Zekerheids- en HulpDiensten voor Luchtbescherming" or "Z.H.D." and resorted under the Belgian ministry of interior. Several sections existed which would be active during air raids, including police, firemen, medical unit, transport unit, clearing, etc.. All members were volunteers. The Z.H.D coordinated its work with the German military. They also performed controls near railroads, controlled that al lights were out during the evening and nights, etc...
